Club Board Members
Andrew Thomson
PRESIDENT Since 2017
Board Member Since 2011
Andrew was born in Bendigo and grew up in country Victoria with a passion for Australian Rules & Cricket and is an avid follower of Collingwood Football Club.
At the age of 15, the family relocated to QLD where Andrew attended Ipswich Grammar School and was an avid sportsman.
After completing studies at IGS, Andrew attended the University of Queensland and Kings College where he continued to play Cricket & Rugby at an elite level, but regrettably lost touch with his preferred sport of Australian Rules.
Graduating from UQ with Bachelor of Business (Management) & Bachelor of Arts, Andrew has held senior roles in property & financial services at a variety of organisations in Brisbane and is the Director of a boutique Funds Management & Development Company.
Despite going 10 years with no involvement in Australian Rules Football, Andrew maintained his passion for the sport via his support for Collingwood and working in Marketing for a major sponsor of the Brisbane Lions for a number of years. Upon moving to the Chelmer area to start a family, Andrew found himself continually drawn down to the Sherwood Magpies ground to watch the club play in his beloved black & white and was eventually drawn out of sporting retirement to play 3rds for Sherwood in 2007 before being involved in the formation of affiliate club Woodsmen AFC where he was President before bringing the club back to become the Sherwood Magpies Friday night team
Andrew is married to primary school teacher Lauren, and has 4 children - Charlotte 17, Harry 15, Georgia 12 & Sam 10 and all 4 of them play football for the Magpies. He looks forward to working with the newly formed Sherwood Football Club Board and assisting in developing the club for a sustainable & successful presence at the highest level of Queensland Football and a positive and inclusive environment for young footballers in the local area, including his own children now and in the future.
Andrew was awarded Life Membership 2020.

Niall came to Australia from Africa in the early 1980’s and grew up in the northern suburbs of Brisbane.
Niall’s involvement with the Club started some years ago when his children, Josh and Grace, decided that they wanted to play Australian Rules. Notwithstanding that he has no prior experience with the game (being a former rugby tragic), the passion that Josh and Grace have for the game and the Club has infected him.
Niall is a solicitor and practices in property and commercial law. Having acted in relation to the redevelopment of other sports clubs, Niall has joined the board with a view to maximising the benefit of Club’s lease of the grounds.
